Not to my knowledge, I believe you get one when your CHARATER reaches 1 year old, no matter wether you have Factions or not.

Umm... I love this idea, but i see it dumb for diff rarities.
In other words Anet gives one player a better Bday gift than another.. for no reason at all, makes no sense... but overall this is cool.

Cant wait for like 4 months to go by and everyone has one so their like 5k each!!!!

Maybe it would be better to choose what kind of 'mini-pet' you get, although they are birthday presents I wouldn't be that happy with a whiptail devourer (IMHO, the worst monster ingame) than I would be with Rurik (now you're my bitch rurik!). Maybe choosing your pet is not the best solution, somebody got a different solution?

As for the presents, i think this was one of the most intelligent move from Dev Team! I think you guys understand the wisdom of it.

I have a friend of mine who is a devoted PvE'er but he didn't bothered farming or grinding throughout GW thus was maybe one of the poorest gamer in GW, I helped him most of the time donating plats cause he didn't have even the tiniest plat in his inventory to unlock skills, now he gets 3 chars. I think in the end his devotion payed off ...

Wow. People complain about anything.

Let's say there was a guy named Bob. Bob turned 26 and his friend gave him a sweater for a present. Bob turned 27 and his friend gave him a bottle of cologne for a present. 3 months later Bob gets hit by a bus and dies. If Bob was hindu, yeah... he'd get another character, but that friend won't be giving him a present.

I understand it's frustrating, but folks who have stuck with a character for a whole year get a present. ANet did not have to do this. These pet gifts do not change the game.

Thanks yet again Anet for going above and beyond.

Except this has nothing to do with hours played. I coulda made my char a year ago then never played again... the character is still a year old and would still get a present. I've only played ~400 hours in the last year, as compared to some others here with presents who've stated 2000 hours.

I dont see why people dont like the jungle troll, I traded my Turtle for a jungle troll and 5 ecto, And i wuld have done it strait up but they really wanted the turtle and offerd 5 ectos. IMO the jungle troll is one if the top 5 best ones.IMO the pet should fit the charecter. I use my necro and mes the most and just didnt think a turtle was as fitting for a necro as a troll is. Now for my ranger I would want a turtle but I dont use him much currently. A turlte is supposed to be small and slow so I just didnt find it as cool as a Growling Mini Troll.

You're joking right? How do you even compare these to pets? This is a one time thing while pets can be changed anytime you want. If they wanted varity why don't they just make them all white? Obviously they color coded them to give them different value. So some guy that gets a Gold miniture that's worth 10 white ones obviously get more than the person that gets 1 white miniture, while not being anymore loyal/less loyal to the game. Anet really need to think this through before implemeting these things.

PS. I was wrong about the gold sink thing.
